On February 15th, Shoreditch Modern had the pleasure of hosting its first-ever exhibition opening. The launch of the exhibition was celebrated in the presence of friends, family, peers and of course, the three participating artists.

The group exhibition, entitled Grit & Gloss, explores the unexpected beauty and dichotomies arising in urban environments. Grit & Gloss showcases paintings, prints and sculptural work by three outstanding contemporary artists: Gabrielle Spooner, Christopher Constable and Yorgos. Their artwork relates to various themes, from the influence of technology on art to the ephemeral nature of life and the importance of human connection in these divisive times.

The exhibition curator, Ana├»s Masetti, stated: “We are thrilled to present the art of Yorgos, Spooner and Constable. Three thought-provoking artists who investigate both current and universal topics with their very distinctive styles.”

Of the theme, Masetti explained: “For Shoreditch Modern’s first exhibition, I wanted to choose a theme that relates closely to the location of the gallery. East London has always been a fertile ground for creatives. It is also a multi-faceted urban area that is undergoing rapid change. In Shoreditch, the contrast is salient in both the architectural and social landscape, making it a fascinating place to exhibit and engage with contemporary art.”

This art exhibition is free and open to the public until March 8th 2024. The gallery’s opening hours are Wednesday to Sunday from 12 pm to 6 pm. All artworks on display are available for sale. For any sales enquiries, please contact: anais@shoreditchmodern.com
