Disturbing Darlings

Disturbing Darlings flyer

Disturbing Darlings is a group exhibition about sweet things turned strange. Eyes a bit too wide, fur a bit too long, teeth a bit too sharp. It only takes a few details to transform lovable beings into chilling creatures. And sometimes the opposite happens, with silly demons evoking more sympathy than terror.

This group exhibition reflects on the current trend of seeking escapism in cutesy imagery, while the world’s uncertain future lingers at the back of our minds. It also explores the power of art and humour to make our fears more manageable.

Subversive, hilarious and unsettling, the show highlights five inventive contemporary artists working in various mediums – from art toys to painting and video installation.
