Helena Minginowicz

Helena Minginowicz is an artist living and working in Poznań, Poland. After graduating from the Faculty of Architecture and Design at the Magdalena Abakanowicz University of Arts in Poznań, she exhibited in many solo and group exhibitions. She was also a finalist in the prestigious Bielska Jesień 2023 contest.

Her use of airbrush allows her to create smooth tonal transitions and subtle contours, as well as sharp edges, giving the images visual depth. The resulting aesthetic is reminiscent of advertising banners, GIFs, and filters that fill contemporary reality. Through this painting method, she captures fleeting moments of life and emotions, emphasising their significance and universality.

“I am inspired by everyday life and the highly subjective way we perceive it. Each of us filters reality through the prism of our own stories and emotions. Do our “filters” have common points? This question provokes me to reflect on the nature of human perception and what it reveals about us.

The theme of my artistic work focuses on analysing relationships and the perception of reality through the lens of art. I use the impression of a visual mirage—an illusion—as a tool to explore the boundaries between what is visible and what is perceived.

What particularly interests me is the analysis of the complexity of all kinds of relationships—from moments of closeness to distance, from tension to intimacy. I strive to capture their emotional and philosophical implications

I am also fascinated by the theme of weakness and vulnerability, as a carefully concealed, often shameful, yet integral part of existence—an inner self.“
