Paula Zvane

Paula Zvane is a London-based artist and 2023 graduate of Central Saint Martins’ MA Fine Art program. Her practice explores sensitivity through the textures of materials and the connections between the mind, body, and nature.

A recipient of the Cecil Lewis Sculpture Scholarship (2021), her multidisciplinary approach encompasses painting, performance, and sculpture, honed through studies in Latvia, Iceland, and the United Kingdom.

Zvane works intuitively with myths and materials, transforming ideas into objects that uncover the hidden and make the unfamiliar tangible. Her innovative combinations of textiles, garments, painting, and sculptural installations redefine the semiotics of materials, revealing their transformative and relational potential.

“Themes of animism and mysticism are central to my work, emphasising the transformational nature of objects and their semiotics. My methods of research lead to innovative ways of merging various artistic mediums and transforming experiences that are depicted in objects and sculptural installations.

By merging opposites – whether material or conceptual – I seek to reflect the infinite truths that emerge when seemingly disparate elements are brought together. By embracing contrast and the unknown, my art creates bridges between human tendencies, natural creatures, and traditions. Offering a visceral exploration of connection, transformation, and the unseen.”
