Pauline Mauruschat
Pauline Mauruschat is a multi-disciplinary artist based in Bochum, Germany. Spanning works on paper to 3D canvas pieces and jewellery, her artistic practice covers a wide variety of mediums and techniques.
Mauruschat’s art sees recurring imagery of animals and nature, particularly horses, that embed a powerful and continuous symbolism throughout her work. The scenes depicted evoke dark fairytales that are difficult to place in time, feeling contemporary and ancient at the same time.
Her inner child influences much of her creations, particularly in her choice of colours and imagery that further demonstrate traits of surrealism.
“I want to use my art to nurture my traumatised inner child and give her the security she used to lack. Painting and creative work has helped me to cope with my depression over the years and it still does today. I am so happy that my works can now perhaps help other people.”
