Shoreditch Modern is proud to present the first gallery preview of Towers – First Movement by London-based artist Ra. This installation brings together a selection of works from a series spanning painting, drawing, film and photography.

These moving works explore the tension between urban landscapes and the bodies that inhabit them. The push and pull between flesh and concrete, elevation and repression, stories and stones.

Ra captures the rich textures and rhythmic forms of the city through various artistic techniques, emphasising the literal and figurative contradictions pervasive in urban scenes through shafts of light cutting through the darkness.

The limbs and bodies in his works contract, struggle, reach and expand in the built environment. Mirroring our universal search for freedom and meaning amidst towers of stone and steel.
